A summer restaurant with terraces, opened in June 2025. The villa was built as a summer residence for the legendary Eino Nestori Setälä (1864–1935), designed by architect Yrjö Sadenius. E.N. Setälä is known as a researcher of the Finnish language and folk poetry and as a politician of his time. Among Setälä's best-known works is the 1880 Finnish Syntax. Setälä also conducted pioneering research into Finno-Ugric phonetics. Influences from folk poetry and Kalevala tradition are still visible in the details of the main building of Kallioniemi, which have survived to this day. Setälä gave up the Kallioniemi villa in 1920. The place later passed into the ownership of the Helsinki Teachers' Association. The villa served for a long time as a summer colony, until the City of Helsinki sold it in 1988 to the Municipality of Ristiina. After the municipal merger, Kallioniemi has been owned by the City of Mikkeli. The roughly seven-hectare Kallioniemi area includes, in addition to a main building of over three hundred square meters, a waterfront sauna, a smoke sauna, a kiosk building, a utility building, and pier structures. For boaters, there is the possibility of fuel sales and septic tank emptying on the shore.
