Paksuniemi is a scenic and nostalgic destination that serves as a guest harbour, a restaurant and an accommodation venue. The area also offers caravan services and saunas for rent. The restaurant's kitchen serves customers. The historic mill and dairy area of Paksuniemi has been a meeting place for the villagers since 1904. The dairy building was replaced with a brick one in 1913. Rääkkylä's first electric lights were lit in Paksuniemi in 1910. Milk reception at Paksuniemi ended in 1976, but the mill continued operating until the turn of the millennium.
