Hiedanmaja

Hiedanmaja is a rental cabin maintained by Metsähallitus, located in Helvetinjärvi National Park. The cabin is situated on the shore of Lake Haukkajärvi, at the tip of a small peninsula in an open pine forest. The modest building, about 54 square meters in size, has two rooms and a kitchen, and offers accommodation for up to six people. The cabin has no electricity or running water. Heating is provided by a fireplace and a stove, and for cooking there is a gas stove as well as kitchen and dining utensils for six people. Drinking water must be brought along, or it can be fetched from the well at the nearby Haukanhieta campsite, for which a milk cart is available in the woodshed for transporting goods and water. The yard area is fenced, and it has a wood-heated sauna and a dry toilet for the use of renters. You can get there by driving from the Kuru–Virrat road (road 65) through the village of Kallio to the Haukanhieta parking area, from which it is about a 600-meter walk to the cabin. When arriving by public transport, the nearest bus stop is in the village of Kallio, about 12 kilometers from Haukanhieta.
