Peace Station was originally a railway station in Vammeljoki in Karelia, until in 1923 it was moved to become the Pasila railway station in Helsinki. By the 1980s it was no longer sufficient to serve the growing number of passengers, so the building was moved, whole, to make way for the new Pasila station, to its current location. In February 1986 the building burned down in a fire, but was rebuilt through volunteer work. The building is owned by the Peace Union and serves as a center for peace work and civic activism, where several organizations and groups operate under the same roof. The house has a rentable festivity and meeting space, connected to a fully equipped kitchen with tableware. When the station building was moved, a basement was built, which contains a sauna and a small living-room-type space.
