Kotiharju Sauna is the only remaining traditional wood-heated neighborhood sauna in the city, operating in Kallio, Helsinki, and has been in operation since 1928. The premises include public wood-heated saunas for men and women on different floors, as well as a small, affordable electric-stove sauna for group bookings.  No reservation is needed for the public saunas. You can arrive, bathe in peace for as long as you like, and even rent a towel or a sauna whisk on site. Kotiharju's wood-heated stoves and city sauna atmosphere make it popular among both locals and foreign sauna-goers. It's a good idea to bring footwear and a thick bench towel to the sauna, as the surfaces are hot.
