Edvin Hevonkoski originally worked in Vaasa as a welder and sheet metal worker until, after retiring, he began making art. Edvin's Path was established in 1981, when the fitness trail of Asevelikylä began to be built and Hevonkoski moved his works alongside the path. Hevonkoski created art for the trail named Edvin's Path for over twenty years. The area also has a bunker village telling of war history, which includes several buildings such as a troop bunker, a trench and a smoke sauna. Today the statues and the bunker village are maintained by the Edvin's Path Heritage Association. Funds for maintenance are raised by renting out the bunker village's spaces.
