Vidnäs Manor

Vidnäs Manor is a historical holiday destination located in Lusi, Heinola, with roots dating back to the late 18th century. In the 19th century, the manor served as the residence of a royal treasurer and has since been owned by, among others, the Mether, Löytönen and Virtanen families. In 1934, the world's oldest wooden sled runner was found in the area; it dates back some 9,000 years and is now on display at the National Museum.  The manor is also known from Finnish film history, as the Uuno Turhapuro films were shot there, such as Uuno Turhapuro muuttaa maalle (1986) and Uunon huikeat poikamiesvuodet maaseudulla (1990).  Among the area's special features is Vellamo mineral water flowing from the tap, originating from the meltwaters of the Ice Age. The water is pure and its pH value is 8.3.
