OPEN SAUNA MAPValiosauna is a public sauna built through community effort on the bank of the Ounasjoki river in Rovaniemi, open and free to everyone. It represents a strong do-it-yourself culture and operates on a "bring your own wood" principle. According to Valiosauna ry, it is a "space free of preconceptions" where everyone is welcome regardless of their background. The sauna's story is also an example of civic activism, as the sauna, once banned, was reopened with the city's support, and it serves sauna-goers until the end of September.
