Pihlajasaari is a traditional recreational island and former villa island, whose nature consists of rocks, small groves and woodlands as well as rocky and sandy beaches. The island is located off Hernesaari, about a 10-minute boat trip away. There is a water transport connection to the island from Ruoholahti and Merisatama in Helsinki. The small beach sauna is a wood-heated self-service sauna located on the southern shore of Pihlajasaari.
