Beautiful Island is Helsinki's easternmost recreational island, located in the Sipoo archipelago almost on the open sea, about 22 kilometres east of Helsinki. The island's character features open shore areas, handsome cliffs, spruce forests as well as rocky and stony shores with sandy patches. The island has a nature trail of about four kilometres, which presents the area's nature and history. There are also protected seashore meadows. The island has a guest harbour and an excursion pier for day visitors. There is a water transport connection to the excursion pier during the summer season. Visitors have use of six cooking shelters with firewood and drinking water points, seven toilets, four beach showers and a swimming beach. In addition, there is a restaurant on the island serving drinks and meals. Overnight stays are possible at the marked camping areas or in cabins and wooden tents available for rent.
