The Ski Trail Lodge, the base of the Karhula Ski Trail Association, is located in Laajakoski, Kotka, at the head of Sittaränni, one of the Pernoo rapids, in a scenically beautiful river landscape. The lodge and its buildings are primarily intended for the recreational use of the association's members. During the summer season from June to August, lodge evenings open to all members are held, with a programme of volunteer work, coffee, sauna and swimming. The lodge can also be rented for private use, and bookings are handled by the lodge hostess, who can provide information on prices. The facilities include a sauna, a barbecue shelter and a yard area, which are freely available to members whenever there is no private event at the lodge. The Karhula Ski Trail Association plans and produces sporting events in line with its mission, both for its own members and for the residents of the urban area. Its activities include cross-country skiing, Nordic walking, volleyball, hiking, outings for children and families, geocaching, and most recently mountain biking. Many outings are made by bicycle.
