The summer activities of the Oulu Workers' Pensioners' Association are centred on Summer Home Ten, located in Hietasaari on the shore of Mustasalmi. The venue is open from the beginning of June to the end of August. The activities include weekly programmed activity days with communal singing, as well as café and catering services, such as the traditional porridge servings on activity days and pancake coffees. The Summer Home's plot is leased from the City of Oulu, and its main building is an old wooden house originally designed in 1908, which later came into the ownership of the pensioners' association. The place has served as the base for the association's summer activities since 1985, and the buildings in the area were purchased by the association in 2015. The activities organised in the area are aimed at pensioners and older people as part of weekly hobby and recreational activities. In the summertime, there is a free sauna day for members in the new sauna, if enough willing bathers sign up. Summer Home Ten can also be rented in the summertime by non-members in the afternoons after 3 pm, or for a whole day or a whole weekend.
