In Hankasalmi there is a former Sauvamäki village school where events and celebrations can be held. The function house also hosts wild herb courses. Herb knowledge is also shared during the public sauna sessions, and at the very least the sauna-goer gets to pick herbs themselves and make a herbal foot bath. After the sauna, herb pie and other treats are served in the Forest Ranger's cabin.
