OPEN SAUNA MAPLapinlahden Lähde is a center for culture and community located in a historic hospital building designed by C. L. Engel in central Helsinki. The area houses a café, a museum, boutiques, exhibition spaces, and workspaces for dozens of entrepreneurs and artists. The sauna building, completed in the 1880s, originally served as the sauna for the doctors and management of Lapinlahti Hospital. In the 1960s it was converted into an electric sauna, and today it is reportedly the oldest still-operating public sauna in Helsinki. In the immediate vicinity of the sauna are a sea view, the hospital park environment, and a swimming beach less than a hundred meters away. The sauna has a shared changing room for everyone, equipped with a hairdryer and a refrigerator. Outside the building, in the public area, swimwear or a towel must be worn.
