The Karila Farm is a former veteran's smallholding established in 1953, located in Äkäslompolo on the edge of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. Its yard combines a rural traditional landscape, art and local food culture. The farm's central service is the Karila Cowshed Gallery and café, which operates in the old cowshed building. The café's offerings include pastries, doughnuts and meals made on site, prepared using local ingredients as well as wild produce. The gallery operating in the same space displays and sells art, handicrafts and various natural products made by the artists of the owner family. Activities are organised in the yard and its vicinity in different seasons. Visitors can get to know the farm's animals, such as hens, a goat and, in wintertime, reindeer, as well as view environmental art. In winter the farm also offers the chance for reindeer rides and other outdoor activities, as outdoor routes pass through it. In addition, events such as the Maanpiirileiri camp are held at the farm.
