Tarvaspää, designed by Akseli Gallen-Kallela for himself, is one of Finland's most significant early 20th-century studio villas. The architecturally unique studio castle was completed in 1913. The Gallen-Kallela Museum is a professionally managed private art and cultural history museum dedicated to preserving the artist's life's work and art, and serves as a center of information related to Akseli Gallen-Kallela. In autumn and spring there are volunteer work days, by participating in which one can get to bathe in the smoke sauna.
