OPEN SAUNA MAPThe then City of Vammala purchased the waterfront site in 1990 for the use of nearby villages. The swimming spot was an unkempt thicket with only a few dilapidated buildings. The residents of Illo, Sammaljoki and Houhajärvi decided to renovate the area and founded the Vesaranta association, which has since maintained the buildings and swimming spot through volunteer work. The sauna is free for everyone.
