Located in Bern, Switzerland, Sauna Lorrainebad is an atmospheric and rustic outdoor sauna that operates during the winter season from November to March on the banks of the Aare river. Situated on the grounds of the historic Lorrainebad swimming area, the sauna is heated with a wood-burning stove, and cooling off is done by jumping straight into the adjacent river. The place operates as a public sauna without advance bookings or private slots, and on Mondays the sauna is reserved for FINTA groups (women, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people). Sauna bathing is allowed either in swimwear or without, and the area has mixed changing rooms as well as the option to pay by cash or card.
