The Alaponkku farm is one of the few surviving wilderness farms of Sompio Lapland. The residential area is located in the northeastern corner of the Lokka reservoir. In this area, along the uppermost headwaters of the Luiro River, new farms were established in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
