Varjakan Vene ry rents out a beach sauna on Varjakka island, which is located off the coast of Oulunsalo. The sauna is easy to reach even with a larger boat thanks to the large pier, and it can also be reached from the mainland by ferry. The washing facilities of the sauna building have a wood-fired kettle stove and a water pump, which guarantee a traditional and functional bathing experience. The changing room has a small fireplace, which creates coziness and warmth in connection with the sauna. Outside there is a separate fire pit available, suitable for example for cooking or spending the evening. The island's sauna was built by Oulu Oy, at a time when the sawmill's management and senior staff lived on the island. President Urho Kekkonen took a sauna there in 1960.
