Kouvolan Latu ry is an active sports organization that has been active since 1958 and has grown into one of the largest local associations of Suomen Latu (The Outdoor Association of Finland). The association organizes a wide range of outdoor activities, such as hiking, skiing, cycling, and canoeing. As a member benefit, the association also offers holiday shares in Ruka and Ylläs. The heart of the association's activities is the Latupirtti located in Hautala, Valkeala, which can be rented for celebrations and recreational use. Located on the north side of Lake Lappalanjärvi, Latupirtti provides facilities for many kinds of events, and the area also has a volleyball court, a disc golf course, and a dance floor. Adjacent to the lodge there is a separate sauna and a grill hut, which can be rented either together with the main building or separately. Rental prices are more affordable for members of the association, but the facilities can also be booked by outsiders at a reasonable price. On Tuesdays, Latupirtti is reserved for members' own use.
