Tankavaara Gold Village is a unique experience center located in the northern part of Sodankylä, right next to Urho Kekkonen National Park. The Gold Village offers its visitors authentic Lapland mysticism and the historical atmosphere of gold fever, as guests can try gold panning year-round – in summer traditionally outdoors at the panning site, and in winter comfortably indoors. The area's services include the atmospheric Restaurant Wanha Waskoolimies as well as varied accommodation options covering hotel rooms, cottages of different sizes, and a campsite. Thanks to its location, Tankavaara also serves as an excellent base for day trips into the surrounding nature, and the area offers activities suited to various seasons, such as snowshoeing, sleigh rides, disc golf, and year-round sauna experiences.
