Kakola Spa is located on Kakolanmäki hill in Turku, in the middle of the old prison area. Kakolanmäki in Turku is known for its colourful history as the prison of Finland's worst criminals. Prison operations in Kakola ended in 2007, and since then the area has been developed into a modern district that is proud of its history. In addition to the spa, Kakolanmäki is home to Hotel Kakola, two restaurants, a sourdough bakery, a brewery and its taproom, a hairdresser and a beauty salon, as well as a prison and souvenir shop. Kakola Spa is located in the courtyard of Graniittilinna, deep inside the rock.
