Paihola is a recreational area offering accommodation, work opportunities and versatile activities in the middle of nature. The area has a scenic sauna, a gym and a travel park. It also offers an escape room, paintball, a hospital museum, disc golf and minigolf. Visitors can also use a beach volleyball court, a bear park, nature trails and campfire sites. The area has a marina and opportunities for hiking. In the summer, Cafe Kakkulaituri operates on the shore of the Pielisjoki river.
