The Sauna Wānaka offers a unique mobile sauna experience in the midst of nature in southern New Zealand. The sauna is built on a trailer and equipped with a traditional wood-heated Finnish stove, upper and lower benches, and a large panoramic window opening onto mountain views. On offer are guided public sessions (max. 15 people) as well as self-guided or private sessions. Sessions consist of three 12–15 minute sauna rounds, between which you can cool off in the lake water if you wish. The temperature in the sauna typically rises to 80–90 °C. The venue emphasises connection with nature, wellbeing and peace. Visitors are asked to arrive on time and to bring a sauna towel and a drying towel as well as a water bottle. The sauna session is alcohol-free and the facility is more modest than a luxury spa: in a setting at the mercy of nature, a warm sauna and the coolness of the lake await right beside it.
