Pilppa Lodge

The Pilppa outdoor area is a site located in Neulaniemi, Kuopio, maintained by Puijon Latu ry, whose yard has two lean-to shelters and a beach sauna. The area operates through volunteer work and provides a setting for self-guided hiking, outdoor recreation and sauna bathing. The lean-to shelters in the yard, the newer log-built "Lehmus" and the one closer to the lodge, "Koivu", are freely available to outdoor visitors daily between 7 am and 10 pm. Firewood is available from the wood storage in the old barn, but making fire is prohibited during forest fire warnings. The lean-to shelters can also be booked in advance for exclusive private use for a separate fee. Completed in 1994, the Pilppa beach sauna is mainly used for the association's own activities, and in summer it is heated by volunteers for members a few times a week. Outside the skiing season and the association's own bookings, the sauna and the adjacent Pilppa lodge are also rented out to outsiders for day use, for example for family occasions or sports and training events. The sauna's roof was renovated and well water was piped in in 2022.
