M/aux Swanhild is a Finnish wooden sailing vessel built in 1948, a galeas by vessel type. Originally used in freight traffic to transport sand and timber, among other things, the vessel was later renovated and converted for passenger use. Today it makes charter and public sailings mainly off Helsinki and elsewhere in the Gulf of Finland archipelago. The vessel's facilities are designed for hosting various events, such as meetings, recreation days and private functions. Swanhild's amenities include a saloon, outdoor deck areas as well as galley and sanitary facilities. During the sailings, passengers have the opportunity to observe traditional seafaring and, if they wish, to take part in hoisting the sails and in the vessel's other routines. The vessel is surveyed as a passenger ship, it meets the safety regulations in force and it is operated by a professional crew. The purpose of the activity is to maintain the Finnish seafaring and wooden ship tradition.
