Helsyn Torppa

The torppa is an 1800s wooden villa located in the Talosaari recreation area in Östersundom, Helsinki, maintained by the Helsinki Nature Conservation Association. Located by the sea, near a bird bay that belongs to the Natura 2000 network, the building and its yard are rented from the City of Helsinki. The association uses the premises for its own volunteer work as well as for organizing various nature events, and a 1.5-kilometer nature trail created by the association also runs right near the torppa. The site's diverse environment, with its rocks, meadows, and deciduous forests, makes it a popular base for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers. The association's own members can use the torppa for temporary overnight stays, and in addition, the building is rented out to outside parties for various private, association, and corporate events, such as meetings, camp activities, or small family celebrations.
