The Valmarinniemi recreation area, owned by the City of Valkeakoski, together with its nearby islands offers resting places especially for those travelling by water, and in addition there is a footbridge connection from Valmarinniemi directly to Palunen and Riuttasaari. A nature trail runs around the area, and on the islands it is possible to stay overnight in a tent for a maximum of two days. Viitasaari and Päärholminsaari both have a campfire site and a dry toilet. The facilities at Huhtasaari include a landing pier, a campfire site, a dry toilet and a lean-to shelter. On the isthmus between Palunen and Riuttasaari, which can be reached on foot, there is a campfire site and a beach suitable for swimming, and on the Riuttasaari side there is also another campfire site and a dry toilet. The saunas can also be rented by people from outside the municipality. Reservations can be made between May and October.
