OPEN SAUNA MAPMäkelänrinne swimming center is Finland's largest and most popular swimming hall, located in Vallila, Helsinki, which opened to the public in May 1999. Designed by Marjatta Hara-Pietilä, the center is the first swimming hall built in Finland that meets the requirements for international championship competitions. Its heart is a 50-meter, ten-lane main pool, and the hall also has a diving tower, a multi-purpose pool with bubbles, a teaching pool, and a children's wading pool. The center is a significant competition venue, with a spectator stand seating over 4,000, and it has hosted, among other things, the European Swimming Championships. In addition to swimming hall services, the building houses a ball games hall, a gym, an aerobics room, and a café, and it is closely connected to the neighboring Mäkelänrinne upper secondary school. The hall was renovated in 2016.
