Kerojärvi Wilderness Hut

Kerojärven wilderness hut is located in the northern part of Oulanka National Park on the shore of Lake Kerojärvi, about halfway along the Keroharju trail. The hut was built in the 1950s as a base for settlement work supervision. This modest wilderness hut is in use year-round. It serves as a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers, allowing a stay of one or two nights without advance booking. The hut has sleeping places for ten people. Heating is provided by a stove, and a gas stove is available for cooking. The same building also has a sauna. There is no drinking water point, and natural water is recommended to be boiled before use. There is no waste management, so visitors must carry their own waste out of the area. Pets are allowed in the hut.
