This sauna has public shifts

Perched above the rooftops of Amsterdam, Volkshotel’s Badplaats is a hidden gem. While it’s mainly reserved for hotel guests, every Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00 the space opens to everyone – completely free of charge. The rooftop terrace features a cozy barrel sauna, along with three inviting hot tubs of warm water. For a refreshing twist, there are two showers and a cold-water bucket that you can tip over yourself with a rope pull. Inside, you’ll find a unisex changing area. If you prefer more privacy, there are two toilets where you can change, as well as a lockable single-person shower. Between sauna sessions, you can relax on one of the benches or chairs scattered around the terrace while taking in the city views. The hotel itself is full of playful, quirky details, making Volkshotel a must-visit when you’re next in Amsterdam.
