The Sagalund village sauna is a tribute to bathing together. Founded in 1900, Sagalund is Finland's first open-air museum. The museum grounds are home to a courthouse, a crofter's cottage, a farm, a villa, two old schools and a garden that is over a hundred years old. The old Bakehouse stands about a kilometre from the Sagalund museum grounds. Behind the door of this red cottage begins a warm journey back in time to the roots of sauna bathing: to cleansing, to calming down and, above all, to togetherness. The Bakehouse village sauna is wood-heated, and washing is done in the traditional way with a basin.
