Pihkala is one of the oldest farms in Kestilä. At Pihkala the land has always been cultivated, cattle kept and, in times past, tar produced as well - which is where the farm's name comes from. The year 1992 was a major milestone in Pihkala's history, as that is when the last cows left the barn and Pihkala became a full-time rural tourism business.
