Kiili (Kilen) is a culture and leisure centre in the village of Siipyy in Kristiinankaupunki, on the shore of the Bothnian Sea. Founded in 1968, the complex operates as a local heritage museum. The museum grounds include several historical buildings that present the fishing and farming traditions of the coast. During the summer season, Kiili houses a museum and a café, as well as a pop-up restaurant at weekends. Events are held in the area regularly. The Kiilinranta inn, the camping area and the guest harbour serve travellers, and in addition there is a smoke sauna, a wood-heated sauna, a sauna cottage, a private room and the Suolaamo function space. Kiili also offers boat transport to the lighthouse island of Yttergrund. The Kiili Local Heritage Museum has a natural connection to sauna culture. One of the museum's founders, Doctor of Medicine Harald Teir, was among the first physicians in Finland to study the health effects of the sauna and was chairman of the Finnish Sauna Society from 1971 to 1984. Both Kiili's wood-heated sauna and its smoke sauna are located right on the seashore.
