Salajärvi Golf

The Salajärvi golf course is located on the shore of Lake Salajärvi. The area was built on the 13-hectare Niemelä forest parcel inherited by Pentti Ala-Kulju. Construction work began in 1980 with the clearing of a former bog, and the four-hole course, built by hand, was opened in 2000. The golf course covers a little over two hectares and consists of four par 3 holes, whose lengths in order are 140, 160, 125 and 65 metres. The course's challenge is increased by the small greens, the old junipers growing in the area and four hand-dug ponds. The site is used mainly by pensioners, holiday-home owners from the surrounding area and various groups, such as company parties, associations and stag and hen groups. The programme for visits usually consists of playing followed by sauna and swimming. The sauna, located on the shore of a clear-water pond, holds over ten people at a time. The area's accommodation and services include rental cottages built on the shores of Lake Salajärvi and the ponds, as well as a two-storey main building housing the sauna facilities, a meeting section, a kitchen, indoor toilets and accommodation.
