The Suurijärvi hiking trail network connects to a larger network that also includes the Peuranpolku trail network. The landscape of the Suurijärvi trail network offers travelers abundant and diverse nature. In addition to the area's barren heathlands and pine forests, the area features black alder swamps, mires and other wetland types. The wilderness character is emphasized by the untouched, natural small bodies of water such as lakes, ponds, streams and springs. On the shore of Suurijärvi there is a cabin, comprising a fee-based reservable cabin and a free wilderness hut. The cabin is intended for temporary resting and overnight use by individuals traveling on foot, skiing, or by other self-powered means. Suurijärvi also has a sauna, a storehouse building, a woodshed, an outdoor toilet, a campfire site, a pier and a rowboat. The sauna is open to everyone.
