The city of Äänekoski rents allotment garden plots from the Suojärvi allotment garden area. The allotment garden area provides the setting for independent vegetable growing and spending time close to nature by the shore, as part of a close-knit garden community. Cottage residents have access to a shared recreational area as well as a sauna with a swimming beach. The area's operating season starts in mid-April and ends in mid-October.
